Setting and the Open-Ended Story
The intentional design principles of Cozies' narrative.
Storytelling is a powerful way to communicate values and ideas. However, developing the complete narrative can take away our holders’ creative liberties and freedom of expression. Thus, we’ve built Cozies on a simple, yet symbolic, story setting:
‘In the year 2040, a group of citizens feel out of place within the increasingly degenerate climate of the city and believe that the technology meant to bring us closer together has resulted in a culture of status that is only driving us apart. Citizens who wish to break free head to the forgotten Platform. Awaiting their journey, the motley crew becomes a community that values compassion, self-exploration, and mindfulness.’
Our goals with the setting are to:
Establish a creative foundation for holders who will be able to utilize their intellectual property rights in any way they see fit within this conceptual framework. This allows Cozies holders to develop their own story and build upon the project’s intrinsic themes.
Use fictional amplification and symbolism to tackle contemporary issues and themes. Stories have a lot to teach us, and we aim to utilize storytelling with careful intent.
Inform the art design and communications and branding strategy, and provide constraints to our creative process that force us to develop innovative uses of the underlying technology in a way that serves the intended direction of the Cozies.
This does not mean Cozies will not be making original content — far from it. We are only getting started. What serves the holders and their IP also serves the brand and the movement.
